О том, что родился Спаситель, узнали в эту ночь только простые пастухи (11), которые сторожили свое стадо в поле, вблизи Вифлеема. Посреди ночи, перед ними явился ангел (12), и засиял сильный свет.
Очень испугались пастухи, но ангел сказал им:
– Не бойтесь. Ныне великая радость для всех людей: этою ночью в Вифлееме, родился Господь, Спаситель мира. Вот вам знак, – вы найдете Младенца в пещере, в пеленах, лежащего в яслях.
И появилось в небе много, много ангелов, которые пели и славили Господа
– Слава в вышних Богу, и на земле мир, в людях благоволение!
И сказали пастухи друг другу:
– Пойдем в Вифлеем и посмотрим, что там произошло, о чем говорили нам ангелы...

And it happened that on that night when the Saviour was born, only simple shepherds (11), watching their flocks in a field near Bethlehem, knew. In the middle of the night, an angel (12) appeared to them and a strong light shone.
The shepherds were very afraid, but the angel said to them:
- Do not be afraid. There is great joy for all people: in Bethlehem this night the Lord, the Saviour of the world, has been born. Here is a sign for you: you will find the child in a cave, in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.
And many, many angels appeared in the sky singing and praising the Lord
- Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, goodwill among people!
And the shepherds said to one another:
- Let's go to Bethlehem and see what happened there, what the angels told us...
